As the federal election looms closer, party leaders are amping up efforts to get their messages out and their faces seen.
People’s Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier isn’t any different. He is on a cross-country tour and made a stop in Saskatchewan on Tuesday.
Although recent polls have shown his party in the three- to four-per-cent support range, Bernier told John Gormley he believes those numbers are higher, for a variety of reasons.
“The most important thing is, when they’re doing this polling, there is 30 per cent of the population that is undecided,” said Bernier.
He also believes many Canadians support his party’s policies on many issues, including immigration.
“I’m looking at our country, and we don’t want to have the challenges they are having in Europe, like France and the U.K. with the integration of immigrants,” said Bernier.
Bernier says his party will have a full slate of candidates running in the fall election.
