The Toronto Blue Jays are likeable again.
The Marcus Stroman trade ends an era where there were too many players on the team whining and complaining as if they were the only players on the planet to not get a ball or a strike call.
Jose Bautista and Josh Donaldson were equally annoying to see, acting like petulant children when things didn’t go their way.
Now the Jays have a bright future at the plate with Guerrero, Bichette, Biggio, Gurriel and the list goes on.
Yes, the team needs pitching to complement a great crop of young prospects in the field, but my fandom of the Jays hasn’t been too high of late because they had characters who were hard to cheer for.
It’s similar to what I’m hearing from Riders fans. Chris Jones rubbed many the wrong way, but now that the affable Jeremy O’Day and Craig Dickenson are running the show, they’re feeling better about the personalities of the Green and White.
It’s a sign that wins and losses aren’t everything. Good public relations and good people matter to people.
However, that doesn’t necessarily win games, otherwise Ken Miller’s Riders would have never lost a game.
