Saturday, August 31 should be a very colourful day on the Meewasin river valley trails.
The Meewasin Valley Authority is hoping Saskatoon can break a record when it comes to creating the world’s largest chalk mural.
MVA Manager of Marketing and Fun development, Amy Wall, says this is part of the their 40th anniversary celebrations.
Saskatoon certainly has the real estate to do it with more than 80 kilometres in trails in and around Saskatoon, and the colouring won’t stop there.
“We’re also going to be going across the Victoria bridge on the pavement side, so it will be closed to traffic that day,” said Wall.
The design of the mural will be the Meewasin Valley itself including the river, plants, animals and of course humans, according to Wall.
The MVA is hoping for a good turnout for the event.
“We’re going to need about 5,000 people and 100 volunteers, so you can head to the website (meewasin.com) to sign up to do some of the chalk drawing or help us out with volunteering,” said Wall.
You don’t need to register ahead of time to draw, you can just show up with chalk in hand.
