A North Battleford woman is facing charges in relation to the death of Tiki Brook-Lyn Laverdiere.
The Saskatchewan RCMP arrested 27-year-old Shayla Orthner on July 20 and charged her with first-degree murder, kidnapping, improperly interfering with a human body and theft of a motor vehicle.
Laverdiere’s remains were found in a rural area outside of North Battleford on July 11 by a police dog as part of an ongoing investigation.
Orthner is scheduled to make her first court appearance in North Battleford on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
Officers said they expect to make additional arrests in the upcoming weeks.
Laverdiere was reported missing on May 12. The Edmonton woman was in North Battleford at the end of April for a few days to attend a funeral on the Thunderchild First Nation with a friend.
