According to Environment Canada, Saskatchewan is about to have a hot start to the week.
Robyn Dyck is a meteorologist with the weather agency.
On Sunday, she said the two heat warnings in the northwest corner of the province are just the beginning.
“We’re expecting those to expand further south and east … over the next few days, heat warnings will cover most of the province,” she said.
For northern Saskatchewan, a heat warning is issued when the daytime high is 29 C or higher and the overnight low is at or above 14 C.
For southern Saskatchewan, those thresholds are 32 C in the daytime and 16 C at night.
Dyck said it’s likely these high temperatures will stick around until Thursday.
She warned that heat warnings can be dangerous for elderly people, small children and people with health conditions.
“(People should be) making sure to take breaks inside, not being outside for prolonged periods of time, drinking lots of water, staying in the shade, wearing hats, that sort of thing,” she said.
She also brought up that it’s possible thunderstorms could show up across the province in the middle of the week.
