I was looking at the game notes for tomorrow’s Lions/Riders game, and there are two trends that will have to continue if the Riders are to take both games of this home and home with B.C.
Offensively William Powell is on track to become Saskatchewan’s first 1,000 yard rusher in six years.
He’s on pace to have a 1,242 yard season, which over 18 games would come out to 69 yards a game. He’ll need to do that and then some for the Riders to beat the Leo’s in back to back games.
He may need back to back 100 yard games for Saskatchewan to beat B.C. twice in the next two contests.
On defense, Charleston Hughes has at least one sack in each of the last three games. It’s important for Saskatchewan to take advantage of a vulnerable Lions offensive line.
Pressure from Hughes and his defensive mates may have to be at a season best over the next two weeks.
Even if the Lions’ pass protection isn’t the best, they still have one of the games best quarterbacks in Mike Reilly.
