A Saskatoon courtroom was filled at times with over 50 friends, family and social workers as 11 teenagers were read their charges on Thursday.
The charges stem from a raid on a home in the 200 block of Avenue W South Tuesday night.
The teens range in age from 13 to 17, and their charges include drug possession and trafficking, possession of guns (including sawed-off shotguns and rifles), breaches of probation and curfews, and one teen wearing gang colours.
Three adults were also involved.
A total of 476 charges were laid after the raid.
During the court reading, some of the young offenders were looking around the courtroom, smiling at the crowd and laughing at times.
The 11 young offenders were brought out in groups of three or four into the prisoner’s box.
They were remanded into custody following Thursday’s court appearance and will be back in Saskatoon Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
The names of the youths charged are under a publication ban, due to their age and provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
