Thunderstorms are forming in north central Saskatchewan, just as Environment Canada expected.
Most of central Saskatchewan has been under a severe thunderstorm watch since 12:27 p.m.
Environment Canada issued a thunderstorm warning for the rural municipality of Spiritwood, including Spiritwood and Leoville.
The incoming storm could produce up to quarter-sized hail and damaging winds in excess of 90 km/h.
“At 2:40 PM (central standard time) Doppler RADAR indicated that this severe thunderstorm was located about 10 km southwest of Spiritwood and was moving toward the northeast at 20 km/h,” the alert read.
“Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.”
