Some much needed rain on Thursday helped quench parched lawns and bone dry fields.
A system from Alberta rolled into the province Wednesday afternoon giving many areas a good soaking.
As of 8:00 a.m. Thursday, Environment Canada’s climate station at the Saskatoon airport showed 14.4 mm, but meteorologist Justin Shaer noted there may have been heavier pockets elsewhere in the city.
The largest amount of rainfall was reported in the Assiniboia where up to 48 mm fell.
The Outlook area pick up 26 mm. North Battleford and Regina each received roughly 17 mm, according to the weather office.
The moisture was overdue.
June is normally the province’s wettest month and Mother Nature is now showing us why with the forecast calling for several more days of wet weather.
“It’s looking like a pretty wet weekend,” Shaer said.
“There’s a low pressure system coming up from Montana, and it pretty much parks itself over the Melfort region, and just spins away all weekend.”
Shaer said we can expect scattered showers through the weekend.
