Major League Baseball and the players’ association evidently have a problem with the union representing the umpires.
The umps are not impressed that Manny Machado got a one-game suspension for being verbally abusive and for allegedly getting a little physical with the umpire. He also fired his bat violently.
Now the issue has become if the union was out of bounds by sending a statement that the league has let down its fans with a one-game suspension.
I don’t see the problem.
Players can rip on umpires all they want, but now the umpires can call out misbehaviour like they saw against one of their own.
I only wish the CFL officials had the same guts to call out the Canadian Football League and the players’ association for allowing Jonathan Rose off the hook for shoving an official in last year’s playoffs.
