8:30 – Provincial Auditor Judy Ferguson released volume 1 of her 2019 report yesterday, which criticized the poor state of healthcare facilities in the Saskatoon area and also found fines under the province’s speed camera program were not applied equally. Ferguson’s report rated the average condition of healthcare facilities in the Saskatoon area as “poor,” and found they contribute to almost half of the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s estimated $3.3 billion in deferred maintenance. When it comes to speed cameras, Ferguson found only 56% of violations resulted in fines, as out-of-province drivers were often not sent tickets. Ferguson joins Drew now to discuss her report.

11:00 – Saskatchewan is appealing its constitutional challenge against the federal carbon tax to the Supreme Court of Canada after the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal ruled the tax was constitutional in a 3-2 decision last month. Premier Scott Moe says he’s optimistic about a different outcome, but Drew is skeptical. According to Drew, it’s a waste of money to fight the carbon tax, and he’s joined by Justice Minister and Attorney General Don Morgan to discuss the issue and why Saskatchewan is still fighting the federal tax.

11:30 – Are you interested in the minimalist living trend? Would your life be simpler if you just didn’t own so much stuff? In 2009, California-born travel writer Colin Wright sold everything he owned that didn’t fit in a single bag. He’s been travelling full-time ever since, and at one point owned just 52 items. Wright says minimalism is all about focusing your time, energy, and resources on the things you really want in life and minimizing distractions. He joins Drew now to discuss the philosophy behind minimalism and whether it’s been an entirely positive experience.
