8:30 – After nearly three years of gathering information, the national inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls is releasing its 1,200-page report this morning at a ceremony in Ottawa. Their report contains 231 wide-ranging recommendations, and notably using the term genocide to refer to the deaths and disappearances of thousands of women and girls over decades. Robert Innes, department head of Indigenous Studies at the University of Saskatchewan, joins Drew to discuss the use of the term “genocide” and what effects the report might have on the lives of Indigenous Canadians.

11:00 – Is conservatism linked with extremism? According to Philip Cross with the Fraser Institute, it’s become fashionable among the left to demonize conservatives and conservative leaders by associating them with right-wing extremists or the “alt-right,” and comparing them to fascists. Cross says this stems from a “misunderstanding of fascism and its location on the political spectrum,” as fascism’s total control over the economy and restrictions on personal liberty are the exact opposite of conservative principles. He joins Drew now to discuss why he believes the modern “anti-fascist” groups are much closer to true fascism than the conservatives they protest.
LIVE: Philip Cross, senior fellow at the Fraser Institute and former chief economist for Statistics Canada.
