Jurassic Park has made its way to Saskatoon.
As the Toronto Raptors have marched to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history, basketball fans from across the country have begun descending on outdoor viewing parties in various cities.
The Saskatchewan Rattlers announced Friday that Saskatoon is getting in on the action, as the Rattlers will team up with the City of Saskatoon to broadcast games in the civic square outside city hall for the remainder of the NBA Finals.
Aptly titled JurasSask Park, the viewing parties will mimic the scene outside Scotiabank Arena in Toronto that has been hosting viewing parties for the duration of the Raptors’ journey in the playoffs.
The Rattlers mascot, Ssswish, will be in attendance to energize fans while in-game DJ, Charly Hustle, will spin music during the game. Rattlers players will also be there to mingle with fans.
Fans have been lining up for more than 12 hours in Toronto at Maple Leafs Square, which has changed its name to Jurassic Park during Raptors games, to watch broadcasts of each game. Viewing parties in many surrounding cities also brought in thousands of fans.
Sunday’s party begins at 5 p.m.
