An RCMP dive team has located the body of a father of two who drowned in Madge Lake on Thursday.
A rescue team was called out to Pelican Point on the lake, which is near Kamsack.
In a media release, the RCMP said an eight-year-old boy was playing in the water by the ladder of a boat when he was pushed away by the wind and waves.
A man jumped out of the boat and into the water to save the child, but he too was pushed out by the wind and the waves.
Two women in the boat threw lifejackets into the water, but the wind kept the flotation devices from reaching the man and the boy.
One of the women then jumped in to try to save the man and the child. The man was able to push the child to within the woman’s reach.
Police said the child was saved, but the man went under the water and didn’t resurface.
Saskatchewan Emergency Services, the Beniot Fire Department, conservation officers and the Red Cross were among those helping the RCMP with the search.
The man has been identified as Dallas Miller, 29, from Benito, Man.
