More adult players are now investing in the protective equipment.
Residents getting ready for work were rushed out the door sooner from their Lakeview apartment building Friday morning.
Shortly after 8 a.m. Dustin Sinclair woke up to alarms sounding and heavy smoke in the hallway of three story building on Stillwater Drive.
He grabbed his dog and alerted his brother and girlfriend to get out.
“The alarms have gone off a few times since I’ve been living here so I really didn’t do much until I started smelling smoke,” he said.
“Those fire alarms paid off.”
At least five pumper trucks responded to the fire, which started in a main floor suite according to witnesses.
Everyone got out safely, however it was unclear when residents would be allowed back in.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
