8:30 – The US officially ended its steel and aluminum tariffs against Canada Monday, and Canada lifted its retaliatory tariffs in response. This not only makes life easier for those in Canada’s manufacturing sector, but also paves the way for the NAFTA-replacing USMCA to finally be ratified. It’s not yet clear exactly what changed to end the tariffs, but Canada has been negotiation for their end since they were first imposed nearly a year ago. To help explain what the end of the tariffs means for Canada, both economically and politically, Drew is joined by Sarah Goldfeder with the Canadian Global Affairs Institute.

10:00 – The two largest minor hockey associations in Saskatchewan – Hockey Regina and Saskatoon Minor Hockey Association – are no longer going to allow bodychecking in the bantam B (ages 13-14) and midget B (ages 15-17) levels of play, starting next season. The idea is to keep the kids playing the sport, but some are concerned it might make it harder for players to learn how to play the game at a higher level, once physical contact starts to become a factor. So are we “bubble-wrapping” our kids, or will this move lead to more injuries later on in their hockey careers? Drew’s got some thoughts on the matter, but we want to hear your take, so give us a call at 1-877-332-8255. Should kids be body-checking in minor hockey?

11:30 – Trump and Trudeau – have there ever been two national leaders who attracted so much hatred and dislike? James Di Fiore wrote a piece comparing the two leaders, and found lots of similarities between them. He says there are legitimate criticisms of both, but the massive amount of dislike is driven by “unhinged, unfettered, unadulterated anger… often steeped in profound ignorance.” But why can listening to the same man make some of us joyful and fill others with rage? Di Fiore joins Drew now to discuss the two leaders and why both are so polarizing.
