8:30 – A lot of people are filling up their vehicles before the long weekend, but did you know that we’re paying 35.4 cents of tax on every litre of gas in Saskatchewan? A new report from the Canadian Taxpayers Federation helps break down the tax each province pays at the pumps, including the sales tax we pay on top of the carbon tax. The report says the federal carbon tax will push gas prices up to $2/litre, and notes that in some areas Canadians are already crossing the border in search of cheaper tax. Saskatchewan residents are already feeling the squeeze, with an Angus Reid Institute Survey released today showing 59 per cent of Saskatchewan residents feel rising gas prices have made it harder to afford necessities. CTF Federal Director Aaron Wudrick joins Murray now to talk about how the carbon tax is pushing up our fuel costs.
