Since December 2018, the province’s Ministry of Government Relations has been doing consultation on changes to the Cities Act.
The draft includes looking into allowing Saskatoon to send parking tickets to people through regular mail instead of printing them and putting them on the windshields of vehicles.
In an email to 650 CKOM, the city specified its part of the draft amendments.
“Such a change would provide some options for the City’s consideration,” Community Standards director Jo-Anne Richter said in a statement. “Of course we would have to review this option further once any legislation is brought into effect.”
If the proposals are approved, the ministry plans to draft legislation and introduce a bill in the fall legislative session, which starts in October.
