Saskatchewan led for large stretches of play on Saturday. Back-to-back three-point shots from captain Bruce Massey and guard Justus Alleyn would give the Rattlers a 34-17 lead after the first quarter.
With Saskatchewan’s offence working from inside and outside the perimeter, the Rattlers were able to power their way to 65-44 lead at the half.
The Nighthawks were unable to overcome the sizable lead in the second half as Saskatchewan cruised to the victory, thanks in part to 58 per cent shooting from three-point range.
Next up for the Rattlers (1-1) are the Hamilton Honey Badgers May 16 at SaskTel Centre.
