11:00 – Fire and Flower, an Alberta-based cannabis company, is buying up four licensed cannabis retailers in Saskatchewan from the Saskachewan-owned Prairie Sky Cannabis for $13M. The deal includes the “Jimmy’s Cannabis Shop” outlets in Battleford, Estevan, Martensville, and Moosomin. Professor Jason Childs, who studies the economics of cannabis legalization in Canada at the U of R, says independent retailers are struggling to get product on the shelves, and the industry is still experiencing a “gold rush” mentality which sees more people taking risks in the anticipation of a big payoff. Childs joins John now to discuss the future of cannabis retail.

12:00 – The Prince Albert Raiders are heading into the WHL finals this weekend, facing the Vancouver Giants and hoping to snap a 34-year championship drought. The first game is tonight at the Art Hauser Centre in P.A., with the puck dropping at 6:00. The atmosphere in Prince Albert is one of excitement, but Head Coach Marc Habscheid knows there’s a lot of pressure on the team.
