8:30 – We’ve heard a lot about the issues China is causing by refusing shipments of Canadian canola, but now it seems soybean and pea producers are also feeling the pressure. Traders of soybeans, peas, and pork have also faced “unusual obstacles” when it comes to China, and with the season getting started there’s a lot of uncertainty among producers. Premier Scott Moe, who has expressed frustration with a lack of progress from Ottawa on the issue, is now calling for Canada to step up its inspections of Chinese goods in order to force a response. Moe said he plans to speak to Justin Trudeau about the situation today, but first he’ll speak with Gormley.
