As blizzard and winter storm warnings sweep across southwestern Saskatchewan Saturday night, Environment Canada’s warning drivers about potentially hazardous travelling conditions.
A blowing snow advisory has been issued for the City of Regina as a spring storm moves into the province from Alberta.
Meteorologist Sara Hoffman said snowfall will reduce visibility and is advising drivers to stay off the roads if travel is not necessary.
“Maybe delay your travel until this system has passed through or if you find yourself caught in some of this heavy falling snow or blowing snow, make sure you slow down and keep a safe travelling distance between yourself and the car in front of you,” Hoffman said.
Environment Canada is forecasting that the southwest corner of the province will see 10 to 20 cm of snow while some areas could get up to 30 centimetres.
Hoffman said the Regina area should see closer to two centimetres.
The storm should pass by Sunday afternoon, she said.
