One man’s junk is another man’s treasure.
Garage sale season is well underway in Saskatoon. Did you know there are rules you have to follow?
Joanne Richter is the director of community standards with the City of Saskatoon.
One rule is you can only hold so many garage sales a year.
“They are limited to a maximum of four per year and each garage sale can be no longer than three days,” said Richter.
So where are you allowed and not allowed to put up signs promoting your day of declutter?
“Garage sale signs are permitted in residential areas on buffer strips,” said Richter. “A key one, I guess, is that they’re not permitted in centre medians along streets.”
And don’t think about any fancy decorations like balloons. Those are not allowed.
If you’re thinking of hosting a garage sale, you can find a full list of what you can and can’t do on the City of Saskatoon website.
