On April 8, a 15-year-old girl told Saskatoon police she hit a man with a skateboard after he tried to force her into a pickup truck on Milton Street just north of Confederation Mall.
About two weeks later, police determined the girl filed a false report.
Police originally made a public plea for help to track down a suspect the teenager described as a man in his 50s driving a pickup truck with an Alberta licence plate.
In a media release Tuesday, police revealed its investigation determined the information they received about the incident was false.
Witnesses and video footage in the area support the investigators’ findings, the release explained.
Police did not say whether any charges would be laid for filing the false report.
