Many have been waiting, watching and wondering when it’ll happen.
The first pelicans of the season were officially spotted on Wednesday.
Official touch down in what’s called the “splash zone,” an area between the weir and the CP train bridge, was marked at 5:07 p.m.
The Meewasin Valley Authority confirmed the return of Saskatoon’s annual guests on Thursday.
The first spotting was a bit later than usual this year. In the past, the time when the pelicans have returned has ranged between April 4 and April 20.
The birds will remain in Saskatoon for the summer before migrating to places like California, Florida, Mexico and Guatemala.
