The Battlefords RCMP is looking for a man after he threatened officers with a machete and a gun.
In a media release Monday, the RCMP said officers were responding to reports of a home invasion on the Saulteaux First Nation on Sunday around 10:10 p.m. when the incident occurred.
Officers stopped a vehicle leaving the area of the home and were in the process of arresting two people in the vehicle when a third person approached from a nearby yard.
The RCMP said the man began threatening the members with a machete and then he picked up what appeared to be a sawed-off gun.
The media release said the man “taunted police to engage with him,” then eventually ran away with the gun in hand.
The RCMP is now searching for 29-year-old Dwayne Katcheech, who is wanted on charges related to the incident. He is described as 6-foot-0 and 190 pounds, with short brown hair and a heavy-set build.
The Saulteaux First Nation is located approximately 180 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon.
