Body found under Traffic Bridge in South Saskatchewan River

A day after reports of a person in the South Saskatchewan River, Saskatoon firefighters have recovered a body from the water.
Saskatoon Fire said in a news release Thursday rescue crews found the body while conducting sonar scans below Traffic Bridge around 3 p.m. and divers were able to retrieve it.
Police and fire crews started their search on Wednesday around 1:40 p.m., after receiving reports of a person in the water near the Sid Buckwold Bridge, also located near Saskatoon’s downtown.
The Saskatchewan Coroner’s Office is now working to identify the body while police continue to investigate.
