The victim of Friday’s tragic collision involving a school bus on Clarence Avenue has been identified.
A letter sent to parents at Aden Bowman Collegiate and Walter Murray Collegiate said a Grade 10 student at Walter Murray was the girl who died after being struck by the school bus Friday afternoon.
The letter sent to parents at Walter Murray noted the family wanted to share the tragic news with the school community.
She attended Aden Bowman in 2017-18, and her family is connected with the school community.
Saskatoon Public Schools has said supports and grief counselling are available to students who require them.
The area surrounding Clarence Avenue South and 2nd Street East was closed for about four hours on Friday after the collision as investigators analyzed the scene.
Saskatoon police said impairment and speed weren’t factors, but have added little detail.
Hertz Northern Bus confirmed Monday one of their drivers was involved in the collision, and several other drivers had witnessed it.
The drivers are being provided with counselling services.
