The Kirk Muyres curling team from Saskatoon lost two games on the first day of championship pool play at the Tim Horton’s Brier in Brandon on Thursday.
I do believe that there is a segment of the provincial curling fan base that said, “Here we go again.”
I’ve had these conversations with these people. You know that at some point and time the name Rick Folk, and the year 1980, will come up.
I admit that I don’t know the Marsh brothers that well, but Kirk and brother Dallan are tremendous representatives for this province at the Brier, and have been each time they have worn the green jackets to the Canadian men’s curling championship.
In a field that includes impressive skips such as Brad Jacobs, Kevin Koe and Mike McEwen, wins don’t come easy.
2006 Olympic gold medalist Brad Gushue didn’t win his first Brier as a skip until 2017, 11 years after he struck gold in Italy. There is only one Brier winner each year.
Patience, please.
