Four people are in RCMP custody after a crime spree spanning 430 kilometres through central Saskatchewan on Monday.
The RCMP said in a release Tuesday that the string of incidents began around 3:15 p.m., when a business in Prince Albert was robbed by two men with a gun.
P.A. police informed the RCMP of the suspects and the vehicle they were driving.
Two hours later, a business in Jansen reported seeing men with covered faces and holding weapons approaching the building. The owner and staff were able to lock the doors to the business before the men could enter, and the suspects were unable to force their way in.
An hour after that, the RCMP suspect the same two men entered a store in Spalding with a sawed-off shotgun and knife. A man who tried to disarm the pair was assaulted, and the men jumped in their vehicle and left town.
The RCMP said the vehicle involved in all the incidents was a 2016 four-door Volkswagen Golf hatchback, which had been stolen from Saskatoon. Two women were reportedly driving the car alongside the men involved in the robberies.
The RCMP said the suspects subsequently were arrested south of Invermay. No charges have been announced.
