A 37-year-old man is now facing a first-degree murder charge in the death of a 39-year-old mother of two.
Police charged Blake Schreiner with second-degree murder following his arrest on Jan. 29 at a home on Kootenay Drive where Tammy Brown was found dead.
Schreiner and Brown were reportedly in a common-law relationship, with two young children.
Court workers confirmed the initial second-degree murder charge against Schreiner was withdrawn Friday during a hearing in video court. The charge was replaced with a new count of first-degree murder.
There was no indication as to why the change was made.
Schreiner is next due to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Feb. 22.
