Three men are in police custody Sunday after leading officers on a chase through Saskatoon.
Ammunition, brass knuckles and knives were seized from the two men who collided with cars and street lights before police were able to apprehend them.
A media release from police says it all started around 7:20 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Osler Street when police responded to a 911 call of a home invasion. A vehicle was seen leaving the area before officers arrived.
Police pulled the car over in the City Park neighbourhood. The driver surrendered himself to police, but a passenger jumped into the driver’s seat and sped away, starting a chase that involved hitting an unsuspecting car near Queen Street and 2nd Avenue. The speeding car continued onto 20th Street, where it failed to make a turn and smashed into a curb and post at 20th Street and Avenue C.
Police used a taser to arrest the driver and pepper spray to arrest the passenger. Multiple weapons were taken from the car.
Police say the two men are known to police and have local gang affiliations.
