One year after a bus tragedy devastated their team, the Humboldt Broncos will remember their fallen brothers and sister with a memorial service in their home arena.
The City of Humboldt said in a Facebook post Thursday that planning is underway for a service of “hope and remembrance” marking one year since 16 people were killed and 13 were injured in a collision with a semi truck on their way to a road playoff game.
The April 6 service is being planned alongside the families of the 29 people on the bus, the Broncos organization and the Humboldt Ministerial Association.
Organizers are working to ensure they can accommodate everyone in Elgar Petersen Arena, and that everyone affected by the tragedy will be able to view the service.
The memorial will take place 15 days after Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, the semi driver responsible for the crash, is sentenced in a Melfort court.
The City of Humboldt said more details would be released as planning is finalized.
