Turnor Lake RCMP officers responding to a sudden death call Friday night helped save a man’s life.
After half an hour, three RCMP constables with the help of local guides located the vehicle on Frobisher Lake just after 8 p.m.
They discovered the driver was not dead, but in medical distress.
The tailpipe became blocked when the vehicle got stuck on the ice road.
It meant the vehicle was filling with carbon monoxide.
The driver had a foot injury and told RCMP he was dizzy, confused, couldn’t walk and was very cold.
Mounties helped get him out of the vehicle and bundled up to avoid hypothermia.
EMS met the man at Birch Narrows medical clinic before he was taken to La Loche Hospital for treatment.
Frobisher Lake is located 75 kilometres southeast of La Loche.
