A 33-year-old inmate at the Saskatoon Provincial Correctional Centre is back in custody after making a brief bid for freedom Wednesday.
Saskatoon police said officers were called to the jail shortly after 2 p.m. Jan. 16, and with help from a bystander they quickly found the inmate hiding in a pickup truck on 64th Street East. Police said the inmate suffered minor injuries during his escape and was treated by paramedics before he was returned to custody.
The inmate is now facing a number of charges, including escaping from lawful custody, theft and mischief. Police said he was scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning.
