The transformation of the hill into a winter park has been delayed by a lack of snow and warm temperatures.
Organizers behind the project said they are not prepared to wait for Mother Nature any longer.
“Hopefully as early as this weekend we’ll get one of our three snow making guns on the hill,” campaign co-chair Robb Letts told the Brent Loucks Show Thursday.
“You’ll probably start seeing transformation over the course of the next three to four days on that whole area.”
The first phase of the project included raising the height of the hill by 30 feet and installing two lifts for snowboard, ski, tubing runs and toboggan runs.
Letts said once they have an adequate snow base they will begin opening the hill in stages, starting with the tubing runs.
“Hopefully within 10 days get maybe sections of the hill open,” Letts said, adding they’re eyeing a grand opening sometime in February.
Letts said a temporary chalet will be brought in for this winter while fundraising continues for a permanent 15,000 square foot facility.
Updates will be posted to the Optimist Hill Facebook page.
