Saskatoon’s Enchanted Forest at the Forestry Farm is enjoying another successful year, which means long lineups for people hoping to get in to see the light show.
The 20th annual display features 66 set-ups sponsored by different groups throughout the city, including a new Charlie Brown Christmas light series.
Marketing Director Hugh Vassos said Sunday night, Dec. 23, may have been their busiest night ever.
“We’ve had an increase every night over last year for the last two weeks,” he said.
“Our attendance is growing every night, and it will continue for the rest of the holidays.”
The influx of people has created traffic issues leading up to the park’s entrance, with some vehicles waiting 40 minutes or more in line along Attridge Drive and Nelson Road.
Vassos advises that if someone wants to avoid the line, they should try to come outside the most popular time frame of 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Enchanted Forest is open from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. every night until Jan. 4.
“We welcome people to come through at any time, and I know they’re really going to enjoy it,” he said.
He added that people who haven’t been through the Enchanted Forest in several years will find it’s a whole new show.
At least one new display is added each year, and a few years ago they went through a major shift.
“We went through the expense of changing all of the lights at the forest into LEDs,” he said.
“That was a major change for us, and the forest kind of took on a whole new light.”
Tickets can be purchased at the gate or pre-purchased at Co-op locations and the Delta Bessborough.
