I love everything about Noah Picton’s talent, Noah Picton’s knowledge and Noah Picton’s determination when it comes to the game of football. He is also an outstanding person.
His determination blasted through the speakers in a recent interview with Jamie Nye on The Green Zone, when he said that Canadian quarterbacks want to crack CFL lineups based on their talents, not on league-imposed exemptions to the ratio.
While I love Picton’s passion, I don’t see anything wrong with the CFL trying to empower Canadian-born QB’s — either by not having Canucks count against the ratio, or even making it mandatory that a Canadian QB has to be on a team roster.
Players like Picton will still have to fight for playing time. The best quarterbacks, whether they be national or international, are still going to play. However, small ratio adjustments may encourage more young pivots in this country to pursue pro football.
