A fire early Saturday morning gutted a home on Avenue W South near 22nd Street.
Fire crews received a 911 call from someone that saw smoke while passing the area around 4:40 a.m.
Firefighters found heavy smoke billowing out of the home at 216 Avenue W South, which appeared to be vacant and recently boarded shut.
When crews forced open the front door, the fire began coming through the roof.
In less than 30 minutes, the fire was deemed under control.
An investigator determined the home sustained $250,000 in damage.
The cause remains under investigation.
