Police have ended a standoff in Saskatoon’s Westmount neighbourhood after officers discovered no one was inside the home.
Beginning shortly after 7 a.m., police went to a home on the 500 block of Avenue K North to arrest a person wanted on outstanding warrants. Despite not finding the wanted person, six others inside the home were arrested due to outstanding warrants and breaches of probation.
Thinking that more people were barricaded inside the home, officers set up a perimeter around the home as crisis negotiators and the tactical support unit were dispatched.
Nearby Westmount Community School was under a perimeter lockdown for the duration of the standoff.
Eventually investigators determined there was no one inside the home.
