The Weyburn Police Service is investigating the death of a 60-year-old man in the custody of Outlook RCMP.
He was arrested without incident by RCMP in connection to an impaired driving investigation.
According to RCMP, the man was at the Outlook detachment on Remembrance Day and went into medical distress around 12:30 a.m.
Despite lifesaving measures by EMS he was pronounced dead in hospital at 1:35 a.m. Sunday.
Because the Fertile Valley man died while in RCMP custody an outside agency will investigate, this time it’s Weyburn police.
Mounties have also requested the Ministry of Justice appoint an independent observer.
At this time the RCMP is not releasing the deceased man’s identity.
