A quick look at Ticketmaster Friday morning showed that there were still tickets for sale for Sunday’s western semi-final between the Bombers and the Riders.
Before I start in on this, let me say Rider fans are the best fans in the country. Just about every other CFL market is envious.
Who knows? The game may be close to or at capacity come kick off.
However a high of -10 C (without windchill) is no doubt playing a factor.
This brings me to a thought that Randy Ambrosie had when he took over as CFL commissioner: Start the season earlier and end the season earlier.
On Sunday Oct. 14 Regina reached a temperature of 1 C.
Objections to this may vary from market to market. Some teams in NHL markets may not want to compete with more of the NHL season in late May and early June. There may also be a concern with battling playoff baseball on TV with playoff football in October.
However, in this ticket driven league, the customer is always right.
