A baby boy is the only survivor of a deadly crash on Highway 1 Monday night.
According to RCMP, a 66-year-old man was driving west in the eastbound lanes of Highway 1 near Tompkins around 8:30 p.m.
His vehicle crashed with another about five kilometres east of Tompkins which is east of Gull Lake.
The 66-year-old driver was killed in the crash.
A 27-year-old woman and a 62-year-old woman who were in the other vehicle were also killed. A baby boy in the same vehicle survived the crash. He was taken out of the vehicle by witnesses and taken to hospital. The boy was hurt, but police said the injuries weren’t described as life-threatening. All three people in that vehicle were related.
RCMP said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, though the toxicology results are still pending.
Highway 1 was closed for several hours and re-opened early Tuesday morning.
