Saskatoon police are warning the public after they reportedly seized drugs disguised as candy.
Police said in a Friday release they seized Xanax tablets made to look like SweeTarts during a recent investigation.
The colourful tabs have the candy’s name imprinted on them, making them almost identical to the actual candy.
Police spokesperson Kelsie Fraser said the seizure was concerning given the time of year.
“Halloween is right around the corner, and these are meant to look like a candy,” she said.
She noted a “silver lining” was the tablets were found loose, not packaged in a similar way to candy.
It’s unclear if the intention of the disguise was meant to entice children.
Xanax is an anti-anxiety drug often prescribed through doctors, but it can be dangerous in high doses.
