The Saskatoon Fire Department was called out Wednesday morning after an alarm went off at Sasaktoon’s Court of Queen’s Bench.
Three fire engines, a ladder truck and a battalion chief were dispatched around 9:30 a.m. to the courthouse at 520 Spadina Cr. E.
They arrived to find employees evacuating as smoke poured out of a vent in the building.
Crews quickly found the source of the smoke in an elevator room, where they put out a small fire. At this point, all but one fire engine and the ladder truck were able to leave the scene, with the remaining firefighters staying behind to clear the building of smoke.
A fire investigator later determined the cause the fire was caused by faulty electrical equipment. Damage was estimated at $200,000.
