An early morning house fire caused traffic tie-ups Friday morning on 8th Street East.
The Saskatoon Fire Department sent three fire engines, a ladder truck and a rescue truck to 528 8th St. E. around 5 a.m.
Crews arrived to find smoke and flames erupting from the back of the two-storey house, which had been boarded up and appeared vacant.
With the structure too unstable for firefighters to go inside, crews opted to work from the outside of the home and were able to quickly get the flames under control.

Firefighters stayed at the scene to deal with hotspots and do a full search once the flames were out.
Traffic was blocked in the eastbound lanes of 8th Street East between Broadway Avenue and Eastlake Avenue. Police advised those restrictions would likely stay in place throughout Friday morning to allow a fire investigator space to work.
No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze. Damage was estimated at $100,000.
