I understand that Wednesday night was a frustrating night for the Boston Bruins.
No team wants to be drilled 7-0, especially after watching the home team unveil their Stanley Cup banner from the year before.
However, I am still disheartened at the actions of Bruins forward Brad Marchand.
After Lars Eller scored Washington’s 7th goal, he celebrated in front of the Bruins bench.
I’ll admit it’s something that Eller should not have done.
A full three minutes after the goal, Marchand skated over and started pounding on Eller, because he didn’t like Eller’s celebration.
I’m sure some of Marchand’s teammates, maybe even his coaches and Bruins fans are saying that Marchand had to “send a message”. What message was sent? You lost 7-0!
Here we are one night into the NHL season, and I’m already asking for a printed copy of “the code”. I just don’t get it.
