2 killed after vehicle hits combine near Cudworth

RCMP are investigating a fatal crash that happened Thursday at the intersection of a provincial grid road and Highway 2.

Members of the Wakaw RCMP detachment were called out Thursday evening to the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 767, northeast of Saskatoon near the community of Cudworth.

Traffic in the area was restricted until about 1 a.m. Friday.

In an update issued later Friday morning, police said two women had been pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP said so far, investigators believe the women were in a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 2 when they struck a combine as it was coming off a grid road.

A man who was a passenger in the vehicle was also taken to hospital. The combine driver was reportedly unhurt.

RCMP said alcohol was not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
