A veteran broadcaster once told me that “unbelievable” was the most overused word in sports journalism.
It is the go-to description of a great goal in hockey or a remarkable catch in football.
We use the word a lot.
This brings us to what we witnessed this past weekend.
How best do you describe what we saw at the Tour Championship in Atlanta?
Less than a year ago Tiger Woods was ranked 1,193rd in the world.
Numerous spinal fusion surgeries for the 42-year-old had many wondering if he would win again.
Not only did Tiger make shots, but again proved that his mental approach to his sport is second to none of any athlete in any sport. His mind helped him overcome any shortcomings that his body may have had in Georgia.
He also had thousands of fans on-hand and millions watching his return to greatness play-out on television.
The images of the gallery at the East Lake Golf Club were beyond the description as the games’ greatest defied the odds.
What we saw this past weekend was .. unbelievable.
