A 28-year-old man is recovering from severe burns after setting himself on fire early Sunday morning.
According to police, officers were called around 1:10 a.m. to a home on Kolynchuk Crescent where a man was threatening to harm himself.
They arrived to find the man standing outside the home with gasoline and a lighter.
Police said officers tried to intervene, but the man ignited the fuel and suffered life-threatening injuries before the blaze could be extinguished.
The man was taken to Royal University Hospital by ambulance before being sent to hospital in Edmonton for burn treatment.
Police said it’s believed the man was involved in an ongoing domestic dispute.
No one else was injured and no criminal charges have been laid
